Staying afloat

Today starts my first day of my last semester of Nursing school. All I can say is I am full of anxiety. This semester will be more challenging than any other semester because our clinical hours are twice the amount as previous. With regular clinical rotation on top of Capstone (preceptorship at the hospital). On top of everything, COVID; making everything much more difficult for us students to attend.

Nursing school, is beyond challenging. Learning about every disease process, treatment, diagnoses, interventions, and medications; we might as well be close to becoming doctors with all the information we are learning. (Not really, doctors are incredible and they spent YEARS doing what they do!) I've been to college for a number of years now and nursing school has such a high expectation then most regular college classes. I can understand why, but at the same time I'm crying.... they always say "C's gets degrees" well can't say that about nursing school, we have to have an above 78% on our exams to pass... that's not even all. Any who, not here to see who has a harder program, college is just hard and very time consuming. We choose to go to school to better ourselves at what we want to do.

How I manage Nursing School, Running a business and being the CEO of my kiddos...

Well, there is no concrete answer to that. LOL

I personally always put my kids first, then school, then my photography business. It's all about time management. I have literally 3 calendars on my desk. I sync all of them with major dates: one is for all my clinical/ schools: my planner has everything, school, appointments, photoshoots, weddings, ect. and I write down all my weekly to do on the beginning of my week to keep myself organize. I set reminders for myself all the time and I have personally decided while in school to never book a session during an exam week... I have tried and failed miserably.

Finally on top of time management and organization; giving myself grace.

I don't beat myself up anymore, like I used to if I don't get everything done. If laundry isn't done, well it's not priority and its okay. I also have a wonderful husband who helps out a lot.

Always remember your goals, why did you start those goals and see them through.
